It's a No from Me, Dawg.
Laughter: The Frequency of Connection and Creation
Laughter: The Path from Coping to Healing
Albert Einstein once said, “You can’t solve a problem from the same level of consciousness that created it.”
To rise above challenges, we need to shift our perspective, raise our vibration, and open ourselves to unexpected insights.
One of the simplest and most profound tools we have for this transformation? Laughter.
Laughter isn’t just about humor—it’s about connection, vibration, and transformation.
It’s a universal language that bonds us, lightens burdens, and brings clarity to the unexpected twists in life.
But like any tool, it can be used in two ways: to heal or to avoid.
American Idol: Family Edition
When I was a kid, my parents were obsessed with American Idol. Specifically, Audition Week.
It was a whole event in our house.
Each week, we’d gather around the TV, and for those few hours, we weren’t just watching the show—we were the judges.
I was always Mariah Carey (obviously), and we’d critique each performance with the seriousness of Grammy voters. We’d debate the judges’ decisions, cheer for the best contestants, and laugh—endlessly—at the ones who showed up unprepared.
But the real magic happened after the episode ended. My dad would turn off the TV, look at all of us, and say, “Alright, it’s our turn!”
Suddenly, our living room became our own Idol stage.
My dad would have us pick numbers to determine the audition order (and he always used the same 3 numbers each time lol)
The “contestants” would line up nervously, the first one preparing to face the panel: my dad, my mom, and the rest of us heckling from the couch.
Some of us took it seriously—like practicing in the mirror for a week straight seriously. (Yes, it was me. Always ready for my moment.) Others leaned into the chaos, taking audience suggestions or improv-ing off-key renditions of pop hits.
But no matter what, laughter was the constant.
Belly laughs, cackles, shrieks—every audition ended in tears of joy and a chaotic symphony of playful critique. If anyone felt left out, they’d quickly force their way into the joke—or, more often than not, become the joke. 😏
Laughter wasn’t just background noise in our house—it was the soundtrack.
It lifted our spirits, strengthened our bonds, and communicated the things words couldn’t. It held space for us, bridged gaps, and created a sense of belonging.
These moments weren’t just entertaining—they were connection in its purest form. Laughter became our shared language, tying us together in joy and understanding.
The Universal Language of Laughter
Those family auditions taught me something fundamental: we’re always in communication, whether we realize it or not.
And laughter is one of the most powerful ways we communicate and connect. It transcends culture, language, and even time.
Think about it: we all laugh the same, no matter where we’re from. It’s instinctive, universal, and entirely human.
Laughter bonds us.
It says, “You feel this too. I’m not alone” or “teeeeeeeeeeaaaaa.”
It’s a vibration that ripples through a room, building momentum and spreading like wildfire.
But the thing is….when we’re upset, lost, or overwhelmed, laughter can feel impossible to reach. Sometimes it doesn’t even cross our minds, or worse, we use it as a form of escapism.
And that’s when humor often becomes a shield.
We make jokes to lighten the load, to avoid confronting the deeper emotions lurking underneath. And you know what? That’s okay—sometimes humor is survival.
But if we stop there, we risk missing something greater: the chance to heal, to process, and to find clarity through the lightness that laughter brings.
From Avoidance to Discovery
There have been times when I’ve uncovered something deep about myself—something uncomfortable, even painful. And in those moments, after peeling back the layers, I’ve found myself laughing (i’m not crazy, I promise!!)
Not a forced laugh. Not an avoidant laugh. A genuine chuckle of recognition.
Why? Because sometimes, when you finally see the root of an issue, it’s absurd how much weight you’ve been carrying for something so simple.
It’s like finding the missing puzzle piece in plain sight, sitting in the most obvious place you never thought to look
And, that’s the beauty of laughter.
It shifts the energy.
It takes something heavy and makes it light enough to carry.
It’s not about dismissing the truth—it’s about embracing it with a new perspective.
When we use humor intentionally, it stops being a coping mechanism and becomes a tool for healing.
It allows us to release, reframe, and move forward.
The Vibrations of Connection
We’re all vibrating at our own frequency, and the energy we put out influences everything around us.
Think about how a great DJ can make or break a party. A bad one kills the vibe, while a good one tunes into the room, creating a flow that uplifts everyone.
In life, we’re both the DJ and the audience.
When we align our energy—when we laugh, connect, and embrace joy—we raise our frequency and open ourselves to new possibilities.
Einstein’s wisdom applies here: you can’t solve a problem from the same level of energy that created it.
Laughter lifts us to that higher level, where solutions are visible, connections are clear, and healing becomes possible.
Why Ask “Why”?
Laughter also teaches us to ask why.
Why did this make me laugh?
Why does that comment bother me?
Why am I feeling stuck? (slippery slope, huh?)
When we start asking why, we uncover the patterns and cycles that shape our lives.
And humor often reveals the truth behind the absurdity. It helps us see where we’re avoiding, where we’re stuck, and where we need to dig deeper.
It’s not about blaming ourselves for our pain—it’s about reclaiming our power to change the story. One laugh at a time.
Laughter: The Frequency of Healing
At its core, laughter is a universal reminder that we are not separate.
It’s a shared experience, a vibration that unites us.
When we embrace laughter—not as a shield, but as a tool—we tap into something profound.
We see the humor in our struggles, the absurdity in our fears, and the connection in our shared humanity.
So the next time you’re stuck in a heavy moment, ask yourself: What’s the joke here?
Find the laughter, not to avoid the truth, but to see it more clearly.
Because when we laugh, we raise our vibration. We align with the frequency of healing, connection, and possibility.
And in those moments, we realize: life may be unpredictable, but it’s also deeply, beautifully funny.
And maybe, just maybe, that’s the point.
‘til next time,
